Lexington, KY (May 8, 2026)—The American Saddlebred Museum will host An Evening Among Horsemen on Saturday, May 30, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Museum. The event brings together five professionals from across the equestrian world for a candid panel discussion on educational outreach and cross-discipline collaboration, paired with a reception and dinner.
The evening’s panel draws from a range of backgrounds rarely gathered under one roof. Derek Braun, founder of the Split Rock Jumping Tour and co-organizer of the upcoming FEI World Cup Finals in Fort Worth, represents the Grand Prix hunter/jumper world. Richard Budge contributes four decades of international Thoroughbred experience, with tenure at WinStar Farm that placed him alongside horses such as Justify, Songbird, and Flightline. Smith Lilly of Mercer Springs Farm in Princeton, WV, brings a career built on more than 100 world and reserve world titles across Saddlebred divisions, along with authorship of Saddle Seat Horsemanship, the most thorough published study of the discipline. Kevin Raber of Diamond K Horses in Missouri rounds out the panel as a versatile western horseman whose credits span reining, ranch work, and colt starting competitions. Glenn T. Werry of Donegal Hills Stables in Versailles, KY, a veteran of both the Saddlebred and Morgan industries, will serve as moderator.
Each panelist brings a distinct perspective on what it means to develop a horse and build an audience for the sport, and the overlap between those perspectives is where the most useful ideas tend to surface. The format is designed for genuine exchange, with not only a lively conversation on stage, but also time set aside for guests to join the conversation and ask their own questions to the panel.
Ticket proceeds support the ongoing mission of the American Saddlebred Museum. The evening includes a reception with signature cocktail, dinner, silent auction, and the drawing for our Victory Pass Raffle. Tri-Color Sponsors Mary Gaylord and a Friend of the Museum, along with World’s Champion Sponsor Misdee Wrigley Miller, have provided generous support for the event.
