Breeders Gazette Print. Signed. c. 1890s. 8 T x 11.5 W. By Highland Denmark and out of the champion mare Emily, the winning Goodwin was a product of General John B. Castlemans breeding program. He was named for William R. Goodwin, the editor of the Breeders Gazette, who gave a tribute to his friend Castleman at the unveiling of the Castleman equestrian statue in Cherokee Park, Louisville, Ky. This drawing was used in the 1911 Live Stock and Complete Stock Doctor: An Encyclopedia. Overall Good Condition with one small tear on the border and one small area of background surface loss.
