George Ford Morris (American, 1873 ÔÇô 1960)
Lithograph. Signed in Plate and By Hand. Dated 1945. 9.75ÔÇ£ T x 12.5ÔÇ£ W. The piece was titled ÔÇ£Green PasturesÔÇØ when sold through the Associated American Artists group, but is labeled ÔÇ£Greyhound, 1:55 ┬╝, his dam Elizabeth and his granddam Zombrewer 2:04 ┬╝ÔÇØ when it appears on page 122 of Portraitures of Horses. Considered to be the greatest trotter of all time, Greyhound retired with 15 worldÔÇÖs records at all distances from 1 mile to 2 miles, in single and in double harness and even under saddle as ridden by Mrs. Frances Dodge Van Lennep. The original was painted for GreyhoundÔÇÖs breeder Henry H. Knight.
