Relive the Sixties with the 2012 Special Exhibit
As of January 31, 2012, the Museum will have been in existence for 50 years. Our 2012 special exhibit Where Were You In '62? Saddlebreds, the Museum & the Sixties, will celebrate this milestone event. The exhibit will feature the stories of the three World's Grand Champions of 1962 (CHDenmark's Daydream, CHBelle Of The Dell and CHColonel Boyle), as well as some of the first gifts to the collection.
Visitors will learn about Mrs. William Weldon's first Saddlebred, CHKate Shriver (BHF), the foundation mare for the renowned Callaway Hills Stables; Jean McClean's Davis' Champions, CHOak Hill Chief and CHEdith Fable; Jolie Richardson's show stock, CHMy-My, CHBroadlands Captain Denmark, CHLady Carrigan and CHGarrymore who were teamed up with the incomparable trainers Frank and Garland Bradshaw; Knolland Farm's CHMiss Helen and Mr. J. L. Younghusband's great breeding stallion Genius Bourbon King, both handled by the legendary trainer, Tom Moore; as well as the Museum's colorful 50 year existence spanning from Spindletop Farm in 1962 to the Kentucky Horse Park in 2012. Additionally, visitors can revisit the pop culture of 1962 as the exhibit will be decorated with relics and images of things that were "in" that year.
This special exhibition runs February 17, 2012 through January 31, 2013. Museum members receive free admission to both the American Saddlebred Museum and the Kentucky Horse Park.
